Determination of residual substances in textiles by means of rapid extraction (German)

Determining the residual substances on textiles is important for intermediate and final inspection, but is often neglected as being too laborious and time-consuming. The availably of a new, rapid extraction method could change this situation. The method is described, taking the extraction of residual alkali and residual dye as examples. The colour intensity and COD (chemical oxygen demand) values of the textile extract are examined. The rapid extraction method could also be useful for evaluating fastness properties.
