Examples are given of the new generation of more environmentally - being dyes and pigments. They include the use of enzymes in desizing, developments in disperse dyes and reactive dyes, printing and finishing. In the near future polylactic acid (PLA) polymers will be commercialized by Corgill Dow Polymers. This corn-based polymer is produced from renewable resources, and is readily biodegradable.
