The development and introduction of eco-friendly processes and products are the aims of the research and development section of the Colors Division of Ciba Specialty Chemicals. The innovations that have been achieved have led to considerable improvements in both products and processes for processing every type of textile fibre. Some of these developments are reviewed, with reference to the dyeing of cellulose with Cibacron dyes, the dyeing of polyester and its blends with cellulosic fibres, the dyeing of wool with the Lonosol range, the dyeing of blends, and digital printing.
