Thies GmbH and Company installed the first automated yarn dyeing plant at the Zwickauer Kammgarnspinnerei GmbH in 1999. The line includes automated preparation and conversion of raw yarn, press packaging of yarn packages, and horizontal dyeing of vertical material carriers. The line accommodates package dyeing and the dyeing of wool tops using carriers for packages with five, ten, 20, 40, or 80 spindles and carriers for tops with two, four, six, or 16 cans each loaded with four bumped tops. Delivery of dyeing assistants and yarn transport and storage are fully automated, including the loading and unloading of material carriers. An Orga-Tex control system regulates all functions of the dyeing plant.
