Environmental advantages of cotton include its biodegradability and renewability, but processing uses high levels of energy and chemicals. Kurabo Industries is researching new technologies that eliminate sodium hydroxide, chlorine compounds, and formalin; reduce the quantity of water and phosphate consumed; and reduce the quantity of carbon dioxide discharged.
