Reductive hydrosulfide aftertreatment of dyed polyester, polyester blend, and acetate fabrics exhibits a number of problems, including large amounts of water, significant amounts of sulfur in the effluent, the need for an alkaline mixture, and a solid treatment material. Cyclanon R, an organic liquid aftertreatment, addresses these issues. Cyclanon R is dosable, user friendly, and less toxic, and exhibits a neutral odor. Its alkaline stock solutions are not affected by air. The agent is strongly reducing and, due to its acidity, does not require a change in pH. Cyclanon R, which is highly biodegradable, has been tested on polyester/cellulose, polyacrylonitrile, and polyester/polyacrylonitrile fabrics.
