An overview of cotton fabric processing addresses reactive printing. Innovative binder systems allow fast white pigment printing that is washfast. Indian manufacturers use these pigment white prints as overprints or with reactive printing to yield half tone and full print effects. Reactive printing uses conventional sodium bicarbonate and soda ash formulations for steaming fixation. Pigment colors tint the pigment white for special effects. The availability of micron sized pigments and good binders allows easy printing with gold, silver, and pearl as colorants. The powdered mica that yields pearl prints can be tinted with pigment colors for deep colors.
