Experience of the prototype of the first superheated steam dryer

A prototype of the Babco-therms dryer, which went into service in September 1999, is described and operating experience of the new machine is outlined. It permits continuous saying and dye fixing on dyed woven fabrics. A 100% (by volume) superheaded stream atmosphere is created. The machine has low energy requirements and no wear is used. Reactive dyeing in a superheaded stream atmosphere is now ready for industrialscale application. Further applications are envisaged in vat and disperse dyeing with air operation.
