Dyebath Reuse in Dyeing of Nylon Microfiber Nonwoven Fabrics with Binary Mixtures of 1:2 Metal Complex Dyes.

Researchers evaluated the feasibility of reusing dyebaths in dyeing nylon microfiber woven fabrics with various binary mixtures of metal complex dyes. CIELab coordinates of samples dyed in a fresh dyebath and samples dyed in a dyebath reused five times determined color reproducibility. The compatibility of the dye formulation and the exhaustion percentage determined the success of dye recycling. Binary mixtures of metal complex dyes with poor compatibility yielded good dyeing results when the exhaustion percentage of one of the two dyes was high enough. The dyed samples showed good dye levelness and colorfastness over five dye reuse cycles. 6 refs.
