Benninger's Pentracta intensive wash box reduces soaping times during washing off. Steam and circulation spray pipes remove unfixed dye from the fibers. Steam that penetrates to the fiber core dilutes the hydrolysate via condensation. High temperatures enhance the kinetic mass transfer process of the hydrolysate from the fiber core to the surface, where three high intensity water jet circuits wash it out. Diffusion washing treats the fabric with water and steam on both sides. Surface washing, which is used to treat such sensitive fabrics as terry and emerized fabrics, applies steam and water to only one side of the fabric. The Pentracta can also be used as a conventional roll vat with meandering counterflow for oxidation.
