A study determined the optimal conditions for dyeing cotton yarn using Barberry and Black Kikar bark dyes. Scouring removed impurities and finishes from the yarn prior to dyeing. Optical density measurements revealed that the suitable wavelengths for Barberry and Black Kikar barks were 410 nanometers and 430 nanometers, respectively. Maximum dye absorption for the Barberry bark dye was 28.98 percent at 45 minutes. Maximum dye absorption for the Black Kikar dye was 30.31 percent at 60 minutes. Optimal dye extraction for Barberry and Black Kikar occurred at 60 and 75 minutes, respectively. Tables present data on dye concentration, extraction time, optical density, dyeing time, wavelength, and dye absorption.
