Adsorption of Basic Dyes on Granular Activated Carbon and Natural Zeolite.

An agitated batch adsorber measured the adsorption of basic dyes from an aqueous solution onto granular activated carbon and natural zeolite and determined the effects of agitation, initial dye concentration, and adsorent mass. Adsorption data yielded Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. An empirical equation represented the dependence of the solid diffusion coefficient on initial concentration and mass adsorbent. The dyes absorbed more on carbon than on zeolite. The coefficient predicated the absorption data for various concentrations. 19 refs.
