Long tern storage of woven or knit elastane fabrics results in yellowing due to silicon oil and other lubricants used during processing. Cold setting of such fabrics causes permanent crease marks. Circular knit fabrics with high elastane content should be cut directly on the knitting machine and rolled in open width form. Heat setting at temperatures over 190 degrees centigrade reduces elasticity and increases the likelihood of yellowing Scouring on a soft flow jet scouring machine prior to heat setting minimizes fumes, tentering machine damage, and baking in lubricants and other impurities. Fabrics with more than 25 percent elastane content should be dyed on beam dyeing machines. Fabrics with 10-25 percent elastane content should be dyed on soft flow jet dyeing machines. Fabrics with less than 10 percent elastane content may be dyed using air jet dyeing machines and low liquor ratios.
