The article presents examples and causes of fabric defects and suggests the most appropriate ways of correcting them. It deals with piece-dyed wool fabrics with a melange effect, wool fabrics with small neps of fibre dyed less intensely than the background, worsted wool fabrics with streaks in the direction of the warp, wool yarns and fabrics with small undyed or lightly dyed areas, cotton fabrics, linen fabrics with irregular light coloured stripes, linen fabrics with the problem of "straws", linen fabrics with neps dyed more intensely than the background, cross marks and small holes over the whole fabric surface.
