When dyeing less material than the quantity conventionally dyed in a jig, it is the normal practice to reduce the quantity of dyestuff used in the proportion relative to the weight of the fabric. The author argues that in the case of both jig and jet dyeing machines, the quantity of water taken for dyeing should be taken into account and should be treated as a chemical. In addition, the time of treatment should be in terms of minutes and not in terms of number of ends.
