Treatment of dye-bearing wastewaters

The use of a low cost adsorbent could bring down the cost of decolorization of textile wastewater to a substantial extent. The authors undertook a study of the use of paddy husk, which is cheap and readily available as an agricultural waste material. The dried husk was carbonized and sieved; the dye used was malachite green. Results are said to be promising.
