The dyeing properties of polyester microfibers and regular polyester filaments are studied by measuring the dyeing rates of four disperse dyes, the K/S values, and the color properties of cross-sectional views of the dyed fibers. The research reveals that at 70℃, dye exhaustion of microfibers is very small, meaning that dyeing the fibers at a low initial dyeing temperature is less effective in achieving good color effects, particularly with high energy disperse dyes. Also, when dyeing microfibers, small disperse dyes require a low dyeing temperature and bulky dyes require a higher dyeing temperature. Microfibers have a lower initial dye exhaustion temperature than regular fibers. Based on reflective curves, some chromaticity characteristics of the microfibers are also reported.
