The advantages of the Basolan antisetting treatment during piece dyeing at the boil are assessed. Industrial dyeings of wool fabrics are made with two dyes (1:2 metal-complex and acid dyes) at different concentrations with and without antisetting agent. The effect of the Basolan method on hygral expansion, strength loss and the end-use properties is examined.
