The demands made on carpets and floorcoverings are noted and methods of cleaning them are discussed. Cleaning and disinfecting agents and their chemical composition are considered. A chromatographic method is used to evaluate their effect. Carpets dyed with different dyes and by different methods are investigated. The results correlate well with other end-use indices such as crockfastness and washfastness.
