Charts for color matching in textile computer aided design departments include pages of color blocks arranged by hue, saturation, or value. Color profiles consist of sets of measured data from scanners, monitors, and printing machines. Computer aided design software can convert the profiles from different systems into a uniform color set. Color management software permits users to generate color profiles of the devices they operate, rather than relying on profiles supplied by the manufacturer, which increases accuracy. The International Color Consortium’s cross platform standard for translating color data from multiple devices and operating systems calibrates devices to a neutral ground within a color space, which eliminates conflicts between device dependent profiles. Color matching permits users to move designs from one printing machines to another without rematching the color, which reduces time and labor requirements.
