ECO Mark and standards for environment friendly textiles

This article examines the labelling of environmentally friendly products as an effort towards environmental protection. Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization in India leading to over-exploitation of natural resources, steps need to be taken for environmental protection together with sustainable development. The Indian government has there fore set up the ECO Mark a new label for environmentallyfriendly textiles. The standards it is necessary to maintain for a product to receive the ECO Mark are explained.
