Breathability as a textile property is considered in relation to wearer comfort. Methods of quantifying breathability, which concerns air permeability, water impermeability and thermal conductivity as well as water vapour permeability, are outlined. The production of breathable materials is discussed, with reference to high-density wovens, breathable laminates and coated textiles.
