A research project evaluated the comfort and mositure transport properties of polyester and nylon microfiber fabrics used for sportswear. Tne moisture transport investigation considered adsorption, migration, and capiliary transport mechanisms. Wear comfort was evaluated using measurements of the water vapor transport index, the water vapor absorption capacity, mositure equilibrium characteristics, a perspiration reference value, drying time, and skin sensation measurements. The microfiber fabrics proved to be advantageous for wearer comfort, expecially in situations where heavy perspiration occurred. 4 refs.
