Durable and regenerable antibacterial finishing of fabrics

Antibacterial functions can be chemically imparted onto cellulose containing fabrics. The finished fabrics exhibit durable and regenerable biocidal properties. The functional fabrics are very effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli Mechanical properties as well as biocidal properties were evaluated qualitatively. It was found that cotton/polyester blends can obtain the durable and regenerable biocidal properties without deterioraton of the mechanical properties of the finished fabrics.
