Hygienic Finishing of Textiles: An Important Aid to Product Marketing.

Antibacterial finishes increase fabric durability and reduce odors, mildew, and mold spots in home furnishings, technical textiles, and apparel. Antibacterial finishes also help control allergies by reducing the amount of mold fungi with which people come into contact. A study showed that 80 percent of consumers were concerned about dust and fungi problems and would pay a price differential of up to 20 percent for bedding and carpets protected from dust mites. Tests showed that apparel worn next to the skin showed increases in bacterial loads even when washed every day. Permanent antibacterial finishes eliminate this problem.
