This article describes a simple and cheap way of treating cotton textiles with a long lasting compound that kills bacteria and viruses which was revealed at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society. According to researchers their additive kills pathogenic and odour-causing bacteria, as well as a variety of viruses. Potential uses for the product include: clothing for healthcare workers; sportswear; bedding in hospitals; handker-chiefs; dish cloths; and incontinence garments. Informal testing has already begun on the product.
