German nonwovens manufacturer Vliessroffwerk Sandler has built a new DM 50 million plant called Plant III. Already a leader in upholstery manufacture, the company will use the new facility to strengthen its position in fusible interlinings, thermal nonwovens, high bulk nonwovens, and antistatically printed nonwovens for protective workwear. The new plant will feature a thermal bonding process in which fiber components are precision blended using automated equipment. This process offers environmental advantages, such as no harmful effluents, over wet processing. The company recently achieved ISO 9001/En 29001 certification from the Bavarian Factory Inspectorate. It is the first German nonwoven fabrics manufacturer to receive such certification.
