Controllable Pore Size Filtration Fabrics--A Coating Technology.

A new coating technique manufactures filter fabrics with exact pore sizes. Acrylic resin is mechanically foamed to a specified cell size and foam density. The foamed resin is blade coated onto the surface of a carrier fabric, typically an inexpensive nonwoven, but knit and owvenfabrics can also be used. Adjustment of the coating head and the foaming unit produces an exact coat weight and a fabric with carefully controlled porosity. These filtration fabrics can be easily washed and reused.
