Fibre orientation is an improtant characteristic of nonwoven fabrics, as it directly influences their mechanical properties. In this paper Fourier analysis, pore analysis and flow-field analysis are discussed in relation to fibre orientation. Of the three forms of image analysis discussed, flow-field analysis is found to be the most suitable.
