A United States-based association for the nonweven fabrics industry, INDA, recently solicited the University of Tennessee ot head a research project cocering the use of nonwoven in home construction. Project directors immediately initlated the uiliding of a miniature model home composed of nonwovens, plastics, and composties made from a variety of manmade textile materials. Supporters of the project, including Amoco and Hoechst Celanses, hope to develop composites for roofing and side panels, insuation, floorcoverings, exterior siding, and reinforced concreate wall pansel. in more environmentally friendly thean may wood-based products. Construction pleans under consideration include the building of a full-sized sample home.
