The invention oncerns a composite nonwoven fabric comprising a nonwoven web of spunbonded substantially continuous thermoplastic filaments, a nonwoven web of thermoplastic strands, and a nonwoven web of thermoplastic meltblown microfibres sandwiched in between. An adhesive is used to bond the assembly together. In a preferred embodiment the composite fabric comprises a nonwoven web of spunbonded substantially continuous nylon filaments, a non woven web of nylon strands, ad a nonwoven web of meltblown polyethylene microfibres sandwiched between the two.
