The conclusion to a series of articles on the surface fixing of nonwovens examines specialized versions of machines for this purpose. Examples are the Malimo machine with multiaxial weft feed; the Malimax, which is characterized by an extremely long weft frame to stabilize and takeup weft yarns at three angles: normal, 45 degrees to the warp, and -45 degrees to the warp; the Malimo G Chopper, which prepares glass fiber rovings as a web prior to their processing as a nonwoven fabric; and the Karl Mayer RS2 DS and DS-V models, which use compound needles to introduce weft yarns to the web at plus or minus 30-60 degrees. Malimo's Malivlies, Multiknit, Kunit, and Voltex systems also include multiaxial capabilities for specialized fabric production.
