Automated Web Inspection Ensures Highest Quality Nonwovens.

Researchers have shown that precise online inspection of a nonwoven web surface during production is a valuable tool for quality assurance. Dexter Nonwovens, which manufactures a variety of high quality specialty papers and nonwovens, recently installed an IS-1000 automated surface inspection system from Isys Controls. The inspection system continuously monitors 100 percent of the web, detects defects and records their exact location, and records an image of the defect for viewing at any time. This allows the operator to take immediate corrective action by locating and marking it, thereby facilitating its removal during roll back. Information from the automated inspection system is used to monitor raw material cleanliness, as well as the performance of the manufacturing process.
