In Japan, the Polymer Processing Research Institute Ltd has invented a system for producing multiaxial nonwoven fabrics which are claimed to be mechanically stronger and have greater dimensional stability than previous fabrics, and which are believed to have considerable potential in fibrereinforced plastics. The equipment proposed to produce the nonwoven is described.
