A composite nonwoven web comprises: a coarse, shot-laden, meltblown, thermoplastic layer which is the surface layer; a supporting, thermoplastic, carrier layer; an a asorbent, meltblown, thermoplastic layer; and a second supporting, thermoplastic, carrier layer. The surface layer and the first supporting carrier layer are formed into a three-dimensional matrix of conical protrusions which taper to an aperture extending through the two layers. IPC B32B A47K.
