A specialised air jet system is described, developed by Mitsui Petrochemical Industries of Toyo, Japan, for the improved production of spunbonded nonwovens. The system consists of an inlet for receiving filaments extruded from the spinneret, and the filaments are then delivered by compressed air onto the carrier. Filaments can be drawn and delivered with sufficient traction, allowing force to be applied to the still-molten filaments.
