On February 13-16, 1996, more than 9,000 people and 391 exhibitors attended the largest INDEX on record. Exhibitors ranged from suppliers of machinery, equipment, and raw materials for nonwoven roll goods manufacturers and converters. A comprehensive review of INDEX 1996 discusses new developments in needle loonms, hydroentanglement, melt blowing, coating, laminating. winding and slitting machines for continuous process, continuous online inspection systems, adhesive systems, spunbonding, and cutting. Other exhibitors focused on diaper manufacturing machinery and products, environmental issues, extruded and breathable films, superabsorbent polymers, staple fibers, raw materials, and chemicals. INDEX awards were presented to Lystil SA, Technical Absorbents Limited, and Scholer Gmbh.
