An environmentally-friendly 100％-biodegradable and compostable nonwoven has been developed by Fiberweb France SA. The product is based on polylactic acid polymers, which are polyesters composed of chains of lactic acid. Nonwovens based on these materials have applications in agriculture, filtration, hygiene and protective clothing. Their properties are tabulated.
