Nonwovens are playing a major role in a.US project aimed at developing replacements for traditional materials used in house building and interiors. The project has involved constructing a mock-up of a house based on 5ft by 12ft panels. Fabric and composite components used inlcude roofing and side panels, vapour barriers, insulation, floor and wall covers, recycled plastic components replacing wooden members, fabric-reinforced concrete wall panels and exterior siding.
