Nonwovens gaining ground in automotive end-uses

The growth in the use of nonwoven fabrics in the West European automotive industry is noted. Twenty-eitht different applications for nonwovens within the construction and furnishing of a car are listed. The use of nonwovens doubled between 1985 and 1991, according to EDANA statistics. The effects of oil price increases leading to lighter vehicles for lower fuel consumption, and environmental concern on nonwovens use are considered.
