Types of ceramic fibre and machines and accessories for processing ceramic fibres into nonwovens are described. Properties of Fiberfrax fibre from carborundum and ceramic fibres from Rath are tabulated together with the properties of nonwoven mats made from these fibres. Machines for producing the nonwovens include the Hydroformer from Dorries, opening machines from Hergeth-Hollingsworth, needling machines from Fehrer and Dilo, and needles from Groz-Beckert and Singer.
