This review article on the production of nonwoven fabrics considers the equipment and processes available to make new and different products. Following an outline of the basic methods of producing nonwovens, the additional production methods available, including the use of binders, coating and saturating, laminating, additives and off-line processes, are discussed. The nonwoven manufacturing industry is then compared with other industries with respect ot flexibility, manufacturing costs, capital investment and the availability of new technology.
