The liners for floppy discs, which are constructed from nonwoven sheets, protect the disc from flaws caused by dust and contributes to the stable rotation of the disc. The Japanese market has risen from 1240 million discs in 1990 to 2514 million in 1995 with the volume of nonwoven fabric used increasing from 30.3 million to 41.3 million square metres. Information is provided on the fabric construction and properties as well as the three producers, Mitsubsihi Rayon, Veratec Japan and Japan Vilene.
