The support surface claimed consists of two surface sections following one another in the direction of motion of the web, with raised formations inclined in different directions with regard to the needling direction. Two further inclined surfaces form asymmetrical raised ridges which extend in the direction of motion of the web. The differently-inclined surface section may be arranged on separate parts, and additional surface sections with no ribs may be provided. The ribs may have changing heights in the direction of motion of the fibrous web, and the support surface may also have a steady curvature in this direction. IPC D04H.
