Processing trials with lyocell fibers using the stitchbonding technique

First processing trials with lyocell fibers for the production of nonwovens using specific stitch-bonding techniques show that the fibers developed primarily for use in women's outerwearin the lower and medium fabric weight range are also of interest for industrial textiles and in the medical sector, eg for incontinence and antidecubitus textiles. To determine the processing behaviour in selected stitch-bondng processes (malivlies, Maliwatt, Kunit, Multiknit and KSB), lyocell fibers with different deniers and staple lengths were tested alone and in combination with other nonwoven fiber materials. While the two types Malivlies and Maliwatt can be used, for example, as coating substrates and/or furnishing fabrics, Kunit, Multiknit and KSB fabrics have the prerequisties forvoluminous three-dimensional nonwovens.
