Following a general review of the current situation with respect to the production, consumption and pricing of cotton, this article considers the latest trends in the use of bleached cotton by the nonwovens industry. The opinions are presented of a number of companies including Veratec and Barnhardt Manufacturing, USA, Ihsan Sons, Pakistan and Edward Hall, UK. Areas of importance quoted include the growth in usage of cotton in the feminine hygiene market, the use of antimicrobial agents in areas such as household, medical and baby wipes and the growth in use in hydroentanglement.
