The combination of strength, absorbency, fibrillation and purity make lyocell ideal for a wide range of nonwovens applications. It is made by the best available technology to minimise environmental impact, it has a higher average molecular weight orientation and crystallinity than viscose rayon resulting in a tendency to fibrillate under wet abrasion and yet it retains most of its high strength and resiliency when wet. This paper describes the properties of lyocell and the wide range of the applications that it can be used for.
