Researchers tested three dimensional polypropylene/woolenized jute blend needle punched fabrics for stress behavior angles, thickness and compression recovery, and varying thickness at different area diameters. A Universal Instron Tensile Tester measured tenacity and extension at the brake. A Mercer Thickness Gauge measured the percentage compression values. Tenacity values were highest for all samples at 90 degree angles from the machine. Increases in either basis weight or needling density reduced the percentage compression values. An increase in the proportion of polypropylene in the blends resulted in an increase in both tenacity and percentage compression values. 30 refs.
