Elastic nonwoven fabrics provide stretch and recovery in one or more directions and consist of composite web, resin to web, and elastomer bonded elastic nonwoven fabrics. Composite elastic nonwoven fabric manufacture sandwichs a layer of spandex filaments between two prebonded nonwoven webs, chemically bonds the layers by nip saturation, and dries and heat relaxes the fabric. These composite webs stretch in the machine direction only. Resin to web elastic nonwoven fabric manufacture melt blows a thermoplastic elastomer material or blend. Webs manufactured using resin to web technology are elastic in the machine and cross directions. Elastomer bonded elastic nonwoven fabrics manufacture treats a nonwoven fabric with an elastomeric polymer. Fabrics manufactured using this technology stretch in either machine or cross direction.
