Manufacturers of filters, protective clothing, hygiene products, and wound fabric covers use ultrasonics for cutting and bonding nonwoven fabrics, which increases production speeds and reduces energy consumption. Ultrasonics bonds fabrics without affecting fabric properties, such as softness, flexibility, and breathability. For cutting nonwoven fabrics, ultrasonics has such advantages as clean edges, processing speeds of up to 400 meters per minute, and minimization of machine wear. Ultrasonics also has application in perforating and embossing.
